Artist Statement:
For the last eighteen years Daniel Backhouse has lived and worked on the North Pembrokeshire coast developing a style based on broad, expressive sweeps of heavily-worked paint. His early landscapes and atmospheric coastal paintings were widely exhibited both in London and in Wales, but in recent years his painting has evolved a subject matter of simple marks and strong colours, wholly abstract in origin. Daniel Backhouse has exhibited in London, New York and Glasgow.
