Born in Pakistan in 1971, Farina Alam studied at the Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture and completed the Bachelors of Fine Arts in 1994. Alam was based in Karachi until moving to London in 1998, to stduy for an MFA at the Slade. She currently lives and works in London.

Farina Alam was born in Pakistan, where she lived and worked until re-locating to London in 1998. Alam's drawing method is informed by traditional Pakistani miniature painting, particularly the linear style of the Kangra region.
