'It was a tiny tree, maybe two feet tall, but it had survived the grazing and poor soil and here it is in full blossom. I kind of like it's dignified presence - it is living on a piece of chalk hill wildflower meadow scrub of which there is less that 1% still surviving and is a habitat that desperately needs both protecting and enlarging.'
