Heidrun Rathgeb: North of the Sun

North of the Sun is an exhibition based on Heidrun Rathgeb's time at artist residencies in Hardanger Fjord, in Norway. Finding inspiration in the poetry of a fleeting moment, her luminous egg-tempera paintings evoke the extraordinary light of the summer landscape as well as the evocative details of life in remote cabins used on long winter hikes. Rathgeb's richly coloured paintings give permanence to these most intimate and tender moments, sharing an innocent delight in the beauty of solitude as much as the joy of companionship.
