      Mario Lobedan

      8 June - 3 August

This exhibition of the work of the German artist, Mario Lobedan brings together paintings and drawings from the last fifteen years to reveal an artist of extraordinary inventiveness and emotional intensity.  Lobedan’s work brims with static energy: spontaneous, raw, yet never out of control, and within the parameters of pure abstraction he maintains a constant connection with the natural world, the overwhelming sense of space and light emerging from within the paint itself.

      William Peers

      Carving in Marble 8 June - 3 August 2024

For the last decade William Peers’s complex, abstract forms have pushed at the technical possibilities of carving in marble, and for this exhibition, five of his recent works show the artist at his most exuberant.  Peter Stiles describes how the marble in these new carvings “billows and bends as if a wind has blown onto them altering their shapes”, with the stone seeming to yield to the gentlest forces. By contrast, two of his monumental carvings adopt simpler shapes to gently echo the landscape, their drama emerging through the changing effects of sunlight and shadow as it plays across the marble’s surface.
