Painting the Ice Bear: Mark Adlington
Past exhibition
Overview
Having previously made something of a habit of pursuing rare, obscure, and little known animals, with this project I have found myself shoulder to shoulder with the whole human race in being spellbound by this most charismatic of arctic icons. Initially seen as a terrifying and savage predator of the frozen north, today the polar bear has morphed into a much loved poster boy for the melting arctic and a reminder of the fragility of the earth, and indeed ourselves in the face of a rapidly warming world.
