An Uncouth Song

'An Uncouth Song brings together a group of paitings which envoloved over eighteen months in Martin Finnin's Cork studio, and then in a lockdown shed in his garden.'

Recurring shapes, often build up with sculpted brushstrokes give the canvases a feel of richly patterned, woven textiles of brazen, vivid pigments. Weightless and disengaged from our need to discover a meaning, Finnin’s new paintings let you inhabit a landscape of breathtaking, extraordinary colour in which symbols and shapes float freely and one’s mind has the space to explore the artist’s limitless imagination.
